Skoda Auto will reveal the name for its upcoming compact SUV in January 2021. But before that, we have got out hands on the 5 titles it has trademarked for its newest model.
It looks as if Skoda could not choose one name and thus has decided to trademark all of its options, which are – Karmiq, Kliq, Kosmiq, Konarq and the Kushaq, for its upcoming compact SUV.
Based on the Vision IN concept, the SUV will arguably be the most important launch for Skoda in years, for the compact SUV segment is growing at a rapid rate of late.
The Vision IN had a relatively large multi-slat grille, think LED headlights with DRLs, skid plates front and rear, plastic cladding on the wheel arches and the lower part of the doors, roof rails and a sharp-looking tail light cluster.
A development mule of the model underpinned by the localised MQB A0 IN modular platform, was spotted earlier and looked similar to the concept.
Global premiere of the compact SUV will take place in March 2021 and it will be launched soon after in the market.
Being a Skoda, expect build quality to be top notch, while inside, the top variants will get features like a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, 10.1-inch central touchscreen, connected car tech, a sunroof, among other things.
Two turbocharged petrol engines – a 1.0-litre (110 PS and 175 Nm) unit and 1.5-litre (150 PS and 250 Nm) motor – will power the car, while transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic for the car with the small engine and the higher-powered car, will likely get a 7-speed DSG.
