Skoda Slavia Spotted On Test Runs In India

Looks like a smaller version of the new generation Octavia, does the Slavia

The upcoming Skoda Slavia has been spotted while it was undergoing testing out on public roads in Pune.

This new sedan will sit above the Rapid in the Czech car manufacturer’s Indian lineup and thus is larger than the C-segment model.

Said to be internally code-named ANB, the Slavia will be underpinned by the MQB-A0-IN architecture and it bears the brand’s unmistakable design theme.

It has the familiar Skoda grille with vertical slats and what should be a chrome surround. The Slavia also has sleek headlights below which sit the fog lights.

Although the car is completely covered in camouflage wrap, the front profile does remind one of the new generation Octavia which will be launched in the market this month.

At the rear, the Skoda Slavia spotted on test does have a very similar profile to the Volkswagen Virtus that was also seen testing in Pune in December last year.

What is also evident is that this new Skoda sedan looks to have borrowed plentiful bits from the Virtus. This could mean that the Slavia’s twin from Volkswagen could well be an Indianised version of the Virtus.

Like the Octavia, the Slavia is also expected to feature a hatchback-style boot section which would add a touch of additional practicality. In addition, it should feature the latest infotainment system and connectivity features.

It should come powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine with a manual and automatic gearbox options, while a 1.5-litre motor may be offered with the car as well.

Set to be launched by the end of this year, the Slavia will command a premium over the ageing Rapid which will be sold alongside it for a while.

This car’s introduction will not immediately spell the end of the Rapid
