The Skoda Rapid Matte Edition will be introduced this festive season with sporty visual updates.
The Skoda Rapid Matte Edition was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. The special edition comes with visual tweaks on the interior and exterior. It is now being prepped for its launch this festive season. Some of the details have been leaked ahead of its launch.
As the name says, the Matte Edition will come in a matte grey shade with gloss black contrasting highlights to give it a sporty appeal. Some of the gloss black exterior elements will include trunk spoiler, front spoiler, 16-inch alloys, ORVMs, etc.
The interior will get black alcantara upholstery, Tellur Grey cabin, flat bottom steering wheel, etc.
While the Skoda Rapid Matte Edition will get all these aesthetic tweaks, the mechanicals will remain the same.
It will be powered by the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 108 BHP and 175 Nm torque. It is expected to come with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options.
Skoda has also made some changes to the Octavia and Superb variants. While the Rapid will continue to sell, Skoda is also coming up with a new C-segment sedan that will be revealed by the end of this year. It is expected to launch by early 2022 and will be positioned above the Rapid.
The new Skoda sedan is likely to be called the Slavia and it will directly compete against the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and the likes.
