Skoda Auto has officially launched the Ambition variant in the Superb line-up, which is now the entry level variant of this D-segment sedan. Launched with two engine options, the Superb Ambition petrol variant is priced at Rs. 17.66 lakhs, while the Superb Ambition diesel variant is priced at Rs. 22.08 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Maharashtra). The Skoda Superb Ambition might be the basic and stripped down variant of the Superb but it retains 8 airbags, head light corner function, auto dimming mirrors, ABS, EBD, TCS, ASR, HBA, EDL, 12 way adjustable front seats, dual zone climate control, NAPA leather package and retractable screens for rear window and windscreen. The features which are missing on the Superb Ambition include touch screen audio system, head light washers, sunroof and 6-CD changer. The 7-spoke alloy wheels have been replaced by 5-spoke ones.
Power comes in from the 1.8-TSI petrol motor which is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the diesel engine is the 2.0-litre TDI mated to a 6-speed automatic DSG transmission. The company says that it is trying to be number one always with new ideas and is challenging others by putting pressure on them. The company does not plan to offer discounts and intends to keep stable price to maintain brand value. Skoda is also educating its workforce at the service center to ensure good after sales support to customers. The Superb Ambition is available in the following colours – Candy White, Rosso Brunello, Magic Black and Amethyst Royal.
