Skoda has launched the Superb facelift in India which gets multiple changes to both the interiors and exteriors. The Skoda Superb is the king of its segment and enjoys a monopoly as Volkswagen has stopped producing the Passat due to dismal sales while other rivals of the Superb are available with a petrol engine only. The Toyota Camry, Honda Accord (now discontinued), Hyundai Sonata don’t have a diesel mill under their belly, making the Superb’s journey very swift in the Indian market. Thus the Superb continues to be the highest selling car in its class. The facelifted Superb is priced from Rs. 18.87 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Skoda offers the Superb with a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine, coupled to 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG for the petrol and 6-speed DSG for the oil burner. The petrol unit belts out 160 HP and 250 Nm while the diesel outputs 140 HP and 320 Nm. The Superb’s USP is the space it offers which easily outclasses cars costing twice as much. If you want to be chauffeur driven, there is nothing which beats the Skoda Superb at this price point, as the car not only comes feature rich but also boasts of a very roomy interior.
Skoda has offered the Superb in two variants – Ambition and Elegance and the base variant now comes with loads of equipment which wasn’t the case before. The vehicle uses a 6.5-inch touchscreen audio unit, offering SD, MMC and Bluetooth compatibility with a 6-CD changer. The DSG equipped models also get paddle shifts on the steering wheel as standard. The styling of the Superb has been upgraded to fall in sync with Skoda’s latest design language and the next generation model will arrive in 2016, underpinned by VW’s flexible MQB platform.
