Skoda Kylaq Spied In Production Ready Avatar

Skoda Kylaq will be the entry-level product for the carmaker in India

Skoda India is gearing up to introduce its latest offering, the Kylaq. Set to make its debut in early November, the Kylaq will be the brand’s entry into the competitive sub-four-metre SUV segment. Recently, a production-ready version of the SUV was spotted undergoing testing in heavy rainfall, providing a closer look at the vehicle ahead of its official unveiling.

Powertrain and Performance

The Skoda Kylaq will be powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, a well-known unit from the brand’s existing lineup. This engine is already featured in the Skoda Kushaq, delivering 114 BHP and 178 Nm of torque. Buyers will have the choice between a six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic torque converter, offering flexibility for different driving preferences.

Design Cues

The Kylaq shares several design elements with its elder sibling, the Kushaq. The front fascia is characterised by split LED headlamps and sleek LED daytime running lights that flank the signature grille, which features vertical slats. An upright bonnet, roof rails and an electric sunroof further add to the SUV’s contemporary look. These design choices reflect Skoda’s commitment to maintaining a strong family identity while offering a distinct character for the Kylaq.

Feature-Packed Interior

Inside, the Kylaq is expected to come equipped with a range of modern features. Key highlights include a large infotainment screen with wireless smartphone connectivity, a digital instrument panel, ambient lighting and automatic climate control. Additionally, the SUV is anticipated to offer a 360-degree surround camera, wireless charging, rear AC vents and ventilated front seats for added comfort. The inclusion of such features positions the Kylaq as a well-rounded offering in its segment.

Competitive Landscape

Once launched, the Skoda Kylaq will enter a highly competitive market, facing off against popular models such as the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Citroen Basalt, Mahindra XUV300 and the upcoming Nissan Magnite facelift. Each of these rivals has carved out a niche in the segment, so the Kylaq will need to stand out in terms of value, features and driving dynamics to capture consumer interest.

With its combination of Skoda’s renowned build quality, advanced features and competitive powertrain options, the Kylaq is poised to make a strong impact when it arrives in November.
