Skoda Kushaq Onyx AT makes automatic transmission accessible to a wider audience
Skoda Kushaq Onyx AT launched, priced at Rs. 13.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). This addition makes the Kushaq Onyx the most affordable automatic variant in the series, offering a price point Rs. 60,000/- higher than its manual counterpart, which is available at Rs. 12.89 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). With this launch, the Onyx variant is now offered with both manual and automatic transmission options.
The Skoda Kushaq Onyx AT is powered by a 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine producing 115 HP and 178 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that features paddle shifters and hill hold assist. This combination provides a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.09 km/l. The Kushaq Onyx AT remains a front-wheel-drive vehicle.
The Onyx AT variant comes with distinctive ‘Onyx’ badging on the B-pillars, scuff plates and floor mats. It is equipped with 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, LED headlamps with DRLs and black fabric seats. The interior boasts a 7-inch infotainment system with a 6-speaker sound system, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and automatic climate control.
In terms of safety, the Kushaq Onyx AT gets ABS, ESC, EBD, TCS and six airbags as standard. The compact SUV received a 5-star safety rating from the Global NCAP in 2022 for both adult and child occupants, underscoring its commitment to safety.
The Skoda Kushaq Onyx AT enters a competitive market, facing rivals such as the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun and Kia Seltos. Each of these competitors brings its own strengths and features, making the segment a dynamic and highly contested space.
With its new automatic variant, the Kushaq Onyx aims to attract a broader customer base seeking a combination of performance, safety and modern features at a competitive price point.
