The Skoda VisionS SUV is going to be launched in India towards the end of 2017 and it will be known as Kodiaq. It shares its platform with the Volkswagen Tiguan.
When Skoda showcased the VisionS concept, it grabbed a lot of eyeballs because the design looks spectacular. The styling looks very different than what we have seen on other Skoda vehicles. The VisionS is based on Volkswagen’s MQB-A+ platform. At a recent media event, Skoda showcased the A-Plus SUV which is the production version of the VisionS concept.
The A-Plus SUV was shown with its front and rear covered and the vehicle is likely to make a full public debut at the Paris Motor Show in 2016 itself. The final name of the car is the Skoda Kodiaq. The Czech car maker will launch the Kodiaq in India in late-2017 and it will also be the first SUV from Skoda that will be positioned above the Yeti.
The Skoda A-Plus carries a similar stance as the VisionS but some styling elements are likely to be toned down. The SUV comes with LED headlights with LED DRLs, LED tail lights, dual exhaust pipes and a long butterfly grille. The A-Plus also comes with very eye-catchy alloy wheels which add some character to the car.
Skoda will offer the Kodiaq with a choice of petrol as well as diesel engines. The 2.0-litre TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines will be offered with outputs ranging from 150 PS to 240 PS. The SUV will also get the infamous DSG automatic transmission. The Skoda Kodiaq will come in both AWD as well as FWD guises.
