Showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in February, Skoda India will be launching the facelifted version of the Yeti SUV in the country in July. The updated Skoda Yeti gets a host of changes featuring new styling and improved interiors for a fresher appeal. Exterior updates on the 2014 Skoda Yeti include a redesigned front fascia which gets a new grille featuring the butterfly design, new bumpers and a revised headlamp cluster that gets integrated LED lights and projectors. The fog lamps have been moved down to the bumper and look sleeker than ever.
The Skoda Yeti facelift gets sharper lines that induce freshness into the design. Changes to the side profile are minimal, but the car now sports a new set of alloy wheels. The rear though features mild changes including LED tail lights and a revised bumper design. Step inside and the cabin gets updated with cosmetic tweaks that include the new 3-spoke steering wheel and updated upholstery. The feature list on the 2014 Yeti includes dual-zone AC, cruise control, powered driver’s seat, panoramic sunroof, individually folding rear seats, optical parking assistant and a lot more.
The 2014 Skoda Yeti will continue to be powered by the same 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that is available in two states of tune. The 110 BHP with 250 Nm of torque version comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the front wheels, while the 140 BHP with 320 Nm of torque version comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that sends power to all four wheels. Skoda could update the Yeti with a DSG automatic gearbox as well.
While the current Yeti did not really sell as Skoda would have hoped for, the company is optimistic that repositioning the SUV as an urban crossover will lure more customers towards the vehicle. We expect Skoda to revise the prices marginally, while the trim options will mostly remain the same. The current Yeti line-up starts at Rs. 15.19 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
