Skoda has decided to make amendments to their Rapid saloon model lineup in order to streamline its offering. It has done so rather discretely. The model range is scaled down to just two trims. One being the Ambition Plus and the other being the Elegance variant. The special edition Skoda Rapid Leisure variant is still being offered alongside these two variants currently. Even though the launch of the 2014 Skoda Rapid was cited to be announced, it is more of a reformation that has been done to the existing lineup.
The Skoda Rapid Ambition Plus variant sports a host of features like steering mounted controls, Bluetooth, USB/Aux/MP3 system, anti-lock braking system, dual front airbags and 14-inch steel rims amongst many others. The Elegance model in addition to the aforementioned features offers automatic climate control, 15-inch alloy wheels and halogen projector headlamps along with convenience oriented features like front passenger seat adjustment from the rear seat.
Skoda also offers leather package as part of standard fitment on all variants of the Rapid. The leather package includes leather wrapped seats, gear knob, steering wheel and hand brake lever. Skoda has left the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines on the Rapid untouched making the car more feature rich rather than a technical upgrade. The prices start from Rs. 8,04,150/- all the way to Rs. 9,77,660/- across the 8 variants on sale. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
Skoda has also come up with an innovative method to garner bookings through an online website www.bookyourskodaonline.com wherein the booking amount is completely refundable in case of any cancellations. It awaits to be seen if these reforms facilitate boost in sales for Skoda given the fact that the festive season is just around the corner.
