Skoda Epiq EV production version will make its global debut in 2025
Skoda has recently lifted the veil on its latest innovation in the EV segment – the Skoda Epiq concept. Positioned as the brand’s entry-level EV, the Epiq comes with a new design language and minimalistic yet futuristic looking interior. Set to debut globally in 2025 with a subsequent launch anticipated in 2026.
Measuring approximately 4.1 meters in length with a generous wheelbase of around 2600mm, the Epiq promises ample space, including a boot capacity of 490 litres. Crafted in collaboration with Volkswagen, production of this electric SUV will take place in Pamplona, Spain, alongside other models like Cupra and Volkswagen.
The Epiq’s design features the brand’s new ‘modern solid’ design cues. Noteworthy exterior elements include a sleek grille, distinctive LED daytime running lights, squared wheel arches and a sporty rear profile. Instead of the logo, it features SKODA lettering on the hood. Overall, it is an evolution over the current design direction of the brand and it looks sleeker.
Inside, the cabin exudes a minimalist yet functional vibe, with a small instrument panel providing essential information complemented by a large central touchscreen infotainment unit. The inclusion of recycled materials in the upholstery and interior trim underscores the brand’s dedication to sustainability.
Under the hood, the Epiq is expected to house a battery pack ranging from 38kWh to 56kWh, offering a range of approximately 400 km on a single charge. It will operate as a front-wheel-drive model, powered by a single motor placed on the front axle. Notably, the Epiq will feature Skoda’s mobile digital key, enabling seamless integration with the driver’s smartphone for enhanced functionality.
One of the standout features of the Epiq is its bi-directional charging capability, effectively transforming the vehicle into a mobile energy storage unit. This innovative technology allows users to channel excess electric energy back to their homes or other power alliances, contributing to a more sustainable energy ecosystem.
We can expect Skoda to introduce this electric vehicle in India soon after its global debut. It will be positioned as an entry-level electric SUV in their portfolio. How do you like the design of the Skoda Epiq? Let us know in the comments section below.
