Skoda has unveiled the Enyaq iV, its first electric SUV, and the brand seems to have covered all the bases with the car that is based on the MEB platform.
Although it is called an SUV, the car has the proportions of a high-riding estate and is similar in size to the Kodiaq. The EV gets the traditional Skoda design, with strong lines dictating the style. Nonetheless, brand new design elements can also be seen, like the optional “Crystal Face” radiator grille which gets a crystalline effect and is backlit using 130 LEDs.
Along the sides, one can clearly see the 2765 mm wheelbase and relatively short overhangs front and rear, while at the back, it is once again the traditional Skoda design affair with slim lights and sharp lines. Wheel rim sizes range from 18- to 21-inch and the Enyaq iV has a drag coefficient of 0.27.
With the unveil of the car, Skoda has also come up with design selections instead of the traditional trim levels and customers can choose between Studio, Loft, Lodge, Lounge, Suite and ecoSuite, apart from the RS Lounge.
All of these selections will depend upon the model chosen and will differ from one another and in addition, customers can also choose from 10 themed packages with a number of individual choices.
Further, inside the car, customers will get a 5.3-inch Virtual Cockpit, head-up display, augmented reality projection for navigational instructions, 13-inch infotainment screen, among other features.
Coming to the models, there are five in total – Enyaq iV 50, 60, 80, 80X and RS. The base model comes with a 55 kWh battery pack and a 109 kW electric motor. It is rear-wheel drive and has a range of 340 km.
As we move up the range, the battery capacity increases. The Enyaq iV 80 has the longest range of 510 km and uses a 82 kWh battery pack that can be charged from 5 percent to 80 percent in 38 minutes using a fast charger, while the 80X and RS models also feature an electric motor upfront to provide them all-wheel-drive. The latter two have 460 km range (all range figures in WLTP cycle).
Also available is a Founders Edition which will be limited to 1895 units, denoting the year the brand was formed and it will be based on the Enyaq iV 60 and 80 variants. It gets 21-inch alloys, ecoSuite design selection, among various other options.
Of course, it goes without saying that the car is equipped with the most advanced safety features available today and in addition, Skoda Enyaq iV customers will also be given a MySkoda Powerpass, an universal service for recharging electric cars, apart from three wallbox options to choose from.
