Skoda Compact SUV to launch by March 2025 with a 1.0-litre TSI engine
Skoda is gearing up to stiffen up the competition in the compact SUV segment with its upcoming offering, yet to be named but already making headlines with new spy shots revealing interesting details. Set to hit the roads by March 2025, this compact SUV will be the entry-level product offering by Skoda in India.
One of the standout aspects of the compact SUV is its shorter wheelbase, measuring at 2566 mm. This adjustment is expected to offer a unique driving experience, potentially enhancing manoeuvrability in urban environments but it will also affect the space inside the cabin. It will be powered by a 115 HP, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine borrowed from the other siblings of the family.
Spy shots of the vehicle in testing reveal subtle yet significant design alterations. With a slightly shorter rear door and reprofiled sheet metal, the compact SUV aims to carve out its own identity while still following Skoda’s latest design language. The reduced front and rear overhangs not only add to its visual appeal but also position it strategically below the sub-four metre mark, catering to regulatory requirements.
Inside, Skoda promises a feature-rich cabin, with enhancements expected over its existing models like the Kushaq and Slavia. While specifics remain under wraps, it is likely to get a 360-degree camera and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Under the hood, the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
With an expected price range of Rs. 9 lakhs-14 lakhs (ex-showroom), the compact SUV will compete against the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO and the likes. Which one of these compact SUVs would you buy? Let us know in the comments section.
