The new RTR450 motorcycle has been specifically developed for the Dakar Rally by Sherco with inputs from TVS Racing.
Taking a giant leap further in the field of motorsports, TVS Racing has announced its association with French motorcycle manufacturer Sherco and will be participating in the 2015 Dakar Rally under the banner name ‘Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team’. Bringing their synergies together for one of the toughest and gruesome motorsport events in the world. TVS Racing and Sherco have built together the RTR450 off-road motorcycle specifically developed for the 2015 Dakar and will be manufactured by Sherco with inputs coming from the Indian two-wheeler giant.
Having entered motorsports since 1984 under the banner TVS Racing, the Hosur based manufacturer went on to win titles and accolades through the years in dirt, rally and even off-roading events. Sherco Motorcycles on the other hand are famous for the trial, supermoto and enduro motorcycles, and have several titles in favour of their stride. With the new collaboration, both manufacturers plan to put their name on the global map. Under the association, international riders Alain Dulcos and Fabien Planet, both from France will be riding the RTR450 at the upcoming Dakar.
Speaking on the RTR450, TVS Racing described the purpose built motorcycle to be competitive, lightweight and equipped with the highly reliable 450cc engines that has been developed and manufactured by Sherco along with a team of engineers from TVS Racing. The bike sports a new overall design, new fairing as well as additional upgrades for improved ride and handling, but mainly to tackle the challenging terrain of Dakar. TVS Racing will also get a chance to work alongside the Sherco team and its racing affiliates during the event.
The 2015 Dakar is scheduled to be held between 3rd January to 7th January, 2015 spreading across the Latin American nations of Bolivia, Argentina and Chile. A major learning experience for TVS Racing, the engineers will get hands-on experience and deeper understanding of international racing programs that will help in the development of high performance motorcycles for customers. The 2015 Dakar Rally will be hosting over 160 participants from over 30 countries and will certainly be a proving ground for the association.
