The UV segment seems to be fetching decent sales thanks to the practical nature of these vehicles.
The utility segment on a whole has witnessed a rise of 12%. It is a comparatively good figure keeping in mind the sorry state of the industry. The Maruti Eeco ferries school kids, substitutes as an ambulance and has been one of the most economic 7-seater vehicles for a while now. It’s multifaceted usage backs up its year on year (YoY) growth of 35%. With 9949 unit sales in its kitty, the Eeco is the most selling utility vehicle of September 2019.
Second on the list is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with the highest YoY growth of 60%. The popular MPV remains an unfazed choice for people despite the launch of its premium sibling, the XL6, slotted at the 6th position. Talking about economic mass-movers, the Renault Triber debuts in the list with 4710 units sold in September.
Mahindra’s Bolero has declined 41% while the Marazzo has tumbled -68%. Taking the last 3 places are the Tata Hexa, Renault Lodgy and the Mahindra Xylo. While the Lodgy has reported a YoY of 189%, the 78 units of sales on its report is quite underwhelming. The Hexa is Tata’s only entrant in this segment. The Xylo with 55 units is at the bottom of the barrel with the highest degrowth at 90%.
