The launch of the 2015 Hyundai i20 is around the corner and the internet is getting flooded with pictures of test mules of the vehicle. The new i20 is supposed to be much better than the outgoing version in many ways. Hyundai has significantly tweaked the exteriors of the new model. What remains the same is the engine lineup. The petrol variants of the i20 will be powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa engine that is mated to a 5-speed transmission while another 1.4-litre petrol unit will be mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox. These engines produce 84 PS and 100 PS of power respectively. The diesel variants get a 1.4-litre engine churning out 90 PS of power.
The 2015 Hyundai i20 gets completely new interiors. Hyundai has changed everything right from the dashboard to the steering wheel to even the power window switches. The steering wheel looks similar to the one found on the Grand i10 while the overall interior design and colour theme is also similar to the Grand i10. The older i20 came with a nice looking dashboard and the new interiors look even better. Hyundai has also improved quality of materials significantly so the dashboard and other plastic parts feel good to use.
The second generation Hyundai i20 will come with a marginally longer wheelbase which will help improve space inside the cabin. The height of the vehicle has been increased slightly and the engines will be retuned to provide better fuel economy. The current generation Hyundai i20 has been selling well thanks to its value for money pricing, equipment and good after sales service by Hyundai. The Korean automaker is betting big on the new i20 that will offer more bang for the buck to the buyer in terms of features.
The 2015 Hyundai i20 will be launched on 11th August. It will give a lot of heat to the Maruti Suzuki Swift which is the current best seller in the premium hatchback segment. The new i20 will also fight it out with the Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto Evo and upcoming Honda Jazz.
