The all-new Hyundai i10 has been unveiled internationally. It has developed good interest amongst car buyers, as the hatchback is getting a frugal diesel engine and features completely new styling along with spacious cabin. Hyundai will come up with the global debut of the new i10 next month at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The new design language gives it a mature appearance along with sporty touches in several areas. There are some bits where the new i10 shows the traditional styling such as the door mirrors, hexagonal grille and headlamps derived from the Eon.
In India, the new i10 will be known as the Grand i10 and the current generation i10 will continue to sell alongside. The Grand i10 will be positioned between the i10 and i20 in our country and has slight differences with the global model (mainly the rear window and c-pillar design). Compared to the predecessor, the new i10 is 80 mm longer, 65 mm wider and 50 mm lower along with a 10 percent spacious boot space which comes up to 252 litres. The additional 5 mm on the wheelbase makes the interior roomy and Hyundai claims that it has the best legroom and boot space in its class.
The second generation Hyundai i10 will be powered by both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine that produces 80 BHP of power and 114 Nm of torque, mated to an option of 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission. The most waited diesel engine is the 1.1-litre, 3-cylinder unit that produces 75 PS of power and 180 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is a well-equipped hatchback that will come with a host of new features internationally such as climate control, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, front curtain airbags and stability control.
