The Hero Duet has steadily grown in the past two months post launch while the Maestro managed to move down to the third spot after becoming the second best selling scooter in October 2015.
The festive period pretty much made sure that auto manufacturers saw the best of year end sales as volumes have only been declining ever since. The two-wheeler market has seen a sharp drop in numbers across most segments and the ever growing scooter segment wasn’t spared either. For November 2015, sales across the scooter space saw a steady decline while the recently launched Hero Duet managed to impress with its positive sales figures. The scooter saw volumes grow by 43 percent compared to October 2015.
The Hero Maestro saw a 45 percent drop in volumes after taking off on a positive start in October last year. The drop in sales also cost the new model its position on the leaderboard losing to the TVS Jupiter at the second spot. Nevertheless, with the new year commenced we expect to see the Maestro Edge regain its numbers as the smartly packaged product has impressed many. Taking a drastic drop was the Pleasure in Hero’s lineup which moved down the list from the fourth spot to eighth with only 12,387 units sold.
Talking about the TVS offering, the very capable Jupiter was consistent in volumes but witnessed a drop of 15 percent. A decline not too dramatic when compared to other offerings on the list. Coming to the leader, Honda India retained the top spot with the Activa that sold 1,83,824 units in November 2015. While the number was certainly almost four times more than the next best seller, the scooter still saw a 22 percent decline over October last year. The Dio was Honda’s next best seller at the fifth position witnessing a 29 percent drop with 17,090 units sold.
Moving down, Yamaha’s retro-styled Fascino has turned into the company’s most popular scooter with 13,078 units sold. Despite a 34 percent drop in volumes, it still made much better numbers than the Ray and Ray Z models in the automaker’s lineup. The other positive seller for November 2015 was the Mahindra Gusto with a 37 percent hike in volumes. Lastly, the TVS Zest beat the Honda Aviator to the tenth spot in November 2015, registering sales of 7906 units.
