Scania’s club-class luxury bus was spotted doing rounds in Bangalore and is one of the most luxurious buses available with amenities on par with airplanes. With presence only in the western part of the country, the company could launch its services in the Southern region soon.
Swedish automaker Scania (also a part of the large Volkswagen family) was scheduled to enter the Indian market for its range of luxury buses with an Indian company called ‘SVLL Connect’. While the company retails its heavy duty trucks in India, the bus market is relatively new for Scania. With the announcement coming in last year, things are finally falling through for the automaker as our eagle eyed reader Abhishek Nayak managed to snap the Scania luxury bus while being tested on Sarjapur road in Bangalore.
The new luxury buses will be the first of its kind in the country to have interiors on par with aircrafts and will also be equipped with a similar kind of service facility. Passengers will get to have a restroom, conference room with Wi-Fi connection and projectors installed for corporate passengers to address their work on the go. Passengers also get an LCD screen for their viewing pleasure like on airplanes. The company will be providing meals and beverages to the passengers via a small crew on-board. SVLL Connect also plans to offer pick-up and drop services to passengers at an additional premium.
Spotted testing in Bangalore, Abhishek stated that the Scania luxury bus appeared to be the top-end club class model and sported the Royal Challengers Bangalore logo (IPL team) and could be exclusively used for the team players. Designed by Dilip Chhabria of DC Designs, the luxury buses are available in 21 seater and 36 seater club class models and currently operate in the western zone between Ahmedabad to Pune via Mumbai. The company could be planning to offer its luxury service in the South and hence is all gearing up to launch its buses very soon in the region.
