Chevrolet’s India website now carries the Sail sedan with a ‘coming soon’ badge and some special features of the car. As confirmed by us earlier, the Chevrolet Sail sedan will be launched in the third week of January. This vehicle is an extended boot version of the Sail U-VA hatchback like the Swift Dzire, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid, etc. This Sail sedan sits in the entry level sedan segment, where Chevrolet is trying its luck after experiencing an underwhelming response by Indian customers for the Sail U-VA. hatchback The Sail U-VA was launched recently with a starting price of Rs. 4.2 lakhs.
According to the Chevrolet’s India website, the Sail sedan boasts a Corvette inspired dual-cockpit and horizon view dashboard with spacious interiors. For safety measures, the car comes equipped with ABS, EBD, airbags, speed sensitive auto door locks, seat belts with pre-tensioner, crumple zones, collapsible steering system and side impact beams in the doors. The Sail sedan also features a bluetooth phone pairing and music streaming system. GM is offering a 3 year / 45,000 kms service package, 5 year / 1,50,000 kms engine and transmission warranty and 3 year / 1,00,000 kms vehicle warranty on the Sail sedan.
The Chevrolet Sail sedan is powered by a 1.3-litre Smartech turbo-charged diesel engine that churns out 78 BHP and 205 Nm of torque and the same 1.2-litre Smartech petrol engine, which is used in the Sail U-VA churning out 85 BHP of power and 113 Nm of torque coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox. The Sail sedan is expected to come with a suspension setup featuring McPherson struts at the front and twist axle system at the rear. The Chevrolet Sail sedan is likely to hit the showrooms with prices ranging between Rs. 6-8 lakhs.
