Renault will launch a safer version of the Kwid in Brazil in June, loaded with more safety features.
The Renault Kwid is a high-selling car in India and it is also popular in other countries like Brazil. Renault is going to launch an improvised and safer version of the Kwid in Brazil in June and the French automaker has already updated the microsite of the car.
The Brazilian Renault Kwid will be 140 kgs heavier than the Indian version due to the use of high strength steel for structural reinforcements. The hatchback will also get 4 airbags, ABS and ISOFIX mounts as standard.
The Kwid underwent a series of NCAP tests in the last couple of years and it always came out with poor ratings. Renault has constantly been improving the Kwid and the Indian version finally managed to bag a 1-star rating. The Indian version of the Kwid comes with a driver airbag on certain variants while ABS has been given a miss.
The Brazilian Renault Kwid also gets other differences like a new instrument cluster, multi-information display, rear defogger, and a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, FlexFuel engine mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT with traction and stability control.
