S-Cross DDiS 200 Zeta Costs Less Than Rs. 10 Lakhs In Many Cities

2015 Maruti S-Cross Test Drive Review

Maruti has priced the DDiS 200 Zeta trim below Rs. 10 lakhs (ex-showroom) across many cities in India. Pricing it below this mark helps customers save around Rs. 50,000/- on the on-road price due to increased taxes and duties for vehicles costing more than Rs. 10 lakhs (ex-showroom).

The premium crossover is doing well as of now

Maruti launched the S-Cross crossover in the country just last week and the vehicle has managed to carve out a niche in the company’s portfolio with its premium features and interiors. The S-Cross has not been priced as per expectations but the company has done well to keep prices of the DDiS 200’s Zeta trim under the Rs. 10 lakhs (ex-showroom) mark. This particular variant comes equipped with the famous 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine which is also found on other models of the same stable including the Swift, DZire and Ciaz.

The DDiS 200 Zeta costs less than Rs. 10 lakhs in cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai, priced at the same Rs. 9.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). This helps the customer save a lot of money on taxes and duties due to the fact that certain states demand a higher tax rate for vehicles that are priced more than Rs. 10 lakhs (ex-showroom). For example, the DDiS 200 Zeta’s on-road price is approximately Rs. 2 lakhs less than the Alpha trim which carries a price tag of Rs. 11.19 lakhs (ex-showroom) in Bangalore. Had the ex-showroom price been more than Rs. 10 lakhs, then the model would have costed Rs. 50,000/- more on-road.

The money saved is a big amount, but the S-Cross’ Zeta trim misses out on features such as automatic projector headlamps, leather upholstery, auto-dimming inside mirror, automatic wipers and LED position lamps. The S-Cross has got off to a strong start in the market but is lagging on the sales front when compared to its main rival, the Hyundai Creta. However, it is early to choose a winner from the two because these are still early times for both of them.

Many feel that the S-Cross is not priced well in the country
