Royal Enfield Trademarks Shotgun Moniker For Upcoming Cruiser

The firm has been choosing good titles for its products of late

Royal Enfield has filed the trademark application to use the ‘Shotgun’ moniker for its upcoming cruiser motorcycle.

Filed only this past week, we reckon this title will be used for the 650cc cruiser motorcycle that has been spotted on test on multiple occasions.

To sit above the Meteor 350, the cruiser motorcycle will effectively be the successor to the erstwhile Thunderbird 500.

Based on the spy shots to date, it is clear that the motorcycle expected to be named Shotgun will come with a circular headlight, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, split seats with pillion backrest, a circular tail lamp, round indicators, and dual exhaust pipes.

Riding on alloy wheels, the cruiser bike will also come with inverted front forks and dual rear shocks, while the instrument cluster could be borrowed from the Meteor 350.

Riders would find the seating position to be upright and Royal Enfield should make it a comfortable cruiser which will take 2 people over long distances without skipping a beat.

The motorcycle will be powered by a 648cc parallel twin motor putting out 47 HP and 52 Nm of torque and the gearbox will be a 6-speed unit.

Of course, the Royal Enfield Shotgun trademark could also be used on another 650cc bike which looks like a bigger Classic 350 that is also under development. But, we’ll wager that it gets called the Classic 650 instead of the Shotgun.

Although, the 650cc cruiser is expected to be launched this year, due to the spread of the second wave of COVID-19, its launch event might be pushed a bit further. When the bike is put on sale, it could cost more than the current 650 twins.

Based on the spy shots, this is how we think the production version of the bike will look like
