Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X with candy colours spotted at a dealership, launch expected in January 2018.
The vintage and classic-looking Royal Enfield Thunderbird finally gets a cosmetic makeover. Christened the Thunderbird 500X, the model has been spied at a dealership in various funky and jazzy looking candy colours. The spy shots reveal a total of four colours – Yellow, Blue, Red and White. The new Thunderbird is expected to be launched in early 2018 with a slight increase in price.
Retaining the same mechanicals, the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X gets modern design elements like a new flat handlebar, single-piece seat and black 10-spoke alloy wheels with reflective rim tapes and tubeless tyres. While the engine and the exhaust continue with the same black theme, the side indicators get black covers instead of the regular chrome ones. The motorcycle retains the standard telescopic suspension up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is via discs at both the ends.
Powering the Thunderbird 500X is a 499cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected and air-cooled motor which produces 27.2 HP of power and 41.3 Nm of torque. The powertrain is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The fuel tank capacity is 20-litres. The standard Thunderbird 500 weighs 197 kgs and the 500X is also likely to weigh more or less the same as the standard bike.
