Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 launch expected next year
The Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 is being anticipated for quite some time. The 650 range currently has Continental GT, Interceptor and the latest Super Meteor. RE enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for new variants on this platform and now some clues are starting to emerge.
The upcoming scrambler motorcycle will be based on the same RE 650 platform and will share some mechanical elements with its siblings.
The Super Meteor 650 brought some advancements to the platform, including a Showa upside-down front fork and new LED lighting. The 648cc parallel twin engine remained unchanged from previous models.
Now, looking at the spy shots of the Scrambler 650, we notice similarities like the USD front fork and round LED headlight. However, the Scrambler 650 test mule sports spoked wheels with dual sport rubber instead of alloy wheels seen on the Super Meteor.
The tail light configuration is also different, with the Scrambler 650 having a more open rear fender, positioned higher up and just under the pillion seat. Unlike the Super Meteor’s separated tail light and turn signals, the Scrambler 650 features a tail light cluster mounted higher up, enclosed in a horizontal chrome piece with round turn signals. The bike’s seating position is more upright compared to the relaxed stance of the Super Meteor.
As for the model name, a May 2023 filing from the Indian Patent Office suggests it might be called the Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear.
We expect the Indian bike maker to reveal the production version of this bike by the end of this year at the 2023 EICMA show. It is likely to go on sale sometime in 2024 in India and across the world. RE is currently working on a wide range of motorcycles, they are introducing the new generation Bullet 350 on 30th August.
