A likely reason is the launch of the 650 Twins and re-entry of Jawa which has tempted customers to wait.
Royal Enfield sales have slumped from 70,126 units to 65,744 units in the month of November 2018. While exports saw a drastic decline by 69 percent, the domestic Indian market recorded a fall of only 4 percent.
While there could be multiple reasons for the decrease in sales, we believe that a likely reason could be the launch of the 650 Twins and the of course the re-entry of Jawa. The attractive pricing of the 650s could have made current and would-be customers of Enfield motorcycles hold on for a little longer before buying a motorcycle. Meanwhile prospective Classic 350 buyers might have held back from buying a Royal Enfield in lieu of opting for the better engineered and modern Jawa cruiser motorcycles.
The 650 Twins are powered by a 648cc, twin-cylinder engine that generates 47 PS of power and 52 Nm of torque. Add this to the retro look both bikes sport and it does not need more convincing to ask someone looking to buy a Royal Enfield Classic 500 to upgrade to the 650 Twins instead.
The 650 Twins were launched in India on 14th November 2018. The prices of both these twin-cylinder motorcycles have been revealed for different regions but they are kept under the Rs. 3 lakh mark (ex-showroom). Bookings can be made online or at any Royal Enfield dealership. Test rides are available across 120 dealerships in the country.
