Royal Enfield helmet intercom can connect up to 24 riders via group mesh feature
Royal Enfield has announced the launch of its new helmet intercom device, the 50S, developed in collaboration with Sena, a well-known name in the helmet communication industry. Designed with the needs of riders in mind, the 50S brings advanced communication features to the Indian market at a price of Rs. 35,990—the same as Sena’s original offering.
The 50S intercom offers riders a high level of connectivity, allowing an unlimited number of users to connect simultaneously via open mesh intercom. The range is noted to extend from 2 km to as far as 8 km, though actual range depends on obstacles and the number of users connected. Additionally, with Bluetooth 5.0 integration, the 50S pairs with smartphones, enabling riders to customise settings and control audio preferences for a personalised experience.
Looking ahead, Royal Enfield and Sena plan to expand the intercom’s range even further through compatibility with Sena’s Wave intercom. This technology, expected to be available via a firmware update in late 2024, will provide users with unlimited range through cellular networks, offering flexibility beyond standard Bluetooth limitations.
The device features audio components developed in partnership with Harman Kardon, a brand synonymous with high-quality sound. The intercom includes premium speakers and a microphone, ensuring clear communication while riding. To enhance usability on the road, the 50S incorporates voice-assistant support and a glove-friendly jog dial for easy control, even with gloves on.
With a lithium polymer battery that charges in just 2.5 hours, the 50S promises up to 12 hours of continuous usage, supporting long rides and extended trips.
