Royal Enfield is 10 steps ahead of its rivals and trying to copy its products does not work, its parent firm’s head has stated.
Managing Director of Eicher Motors, Siddhartha Lal hit out at competition that is following Royal Enfield’s steps in a bid to rival the brand and its best-selling entry-level middleweight motorcycles.
Honda had recently launched the H’ness CB350 which squares against the Classic 350 from Royal Enfield, Classic Legends has the Jawa lineup, while Bajaj had also fielded its Dominar to dethrone the thumpers.
In the premium-end of the middleweight segment is Harley-Davidson, which is now banking on Hero MotoCorp to sell and service its products.
However, Royal Enfield still stays on top with its bikes selling way better than that if its rivals. The firm had only recently launched the Meteor 350 which seems to have impressed many.
Lal said that it surprises him that Royal Enfield rivals are not charting their own route and are instead imitating his firm’s products. In his viewpoint, that is his rivals throwing their hands up and admitting defeat.
He believes that the strength of his products, and the firm’s premium experiences in sales, marketing and after-sales have kept it going strong.
