The Royal Enfield Himalayan Sleet has been launched in India with a sticker price of Rs. 2.12 lakhs (on-road, Chennai). The Himalayan Sleet is inspired by the mountains of Himalayas and sports a new colour (camouflaged colour) with patterns of grey and white. The first 500 exclusive Sleet motorcycles will come pre-fitted with the Explorer Kit consisting of powder-coated finish engine guard, two 26-litres water resistant aluminium panniers, off-road style aluminium handlebar with cross brace and handlebar end weights. That said, all this additional kit has been priced at a premium of Rs. 28,000/- over the regular Himalayan FI.
Bookings for the Royal Enfield Himalayan Sleet have commenced and is possible via online only. If you are an interested buyer, you need to register on the official website, post registration you will be given a unique code to be used on the day of sale (i.e. 30th January). Users again need to login on the day of sale, use the code and make a payment of Rs. 5000/- to book the motorcycle with the pre-fitted Explorer Kit. The sale will go live on 30th of January on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Mechanically, the Himalayan Sleet gets no changes. It continues to be powered by a 411cc single-cylinder, air-cooled and fuel-injected motor producing 24.5 HP of power and 32 Nm of torque. The powertrain is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is suspended via standard telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear while disc brakes at both the ends (300 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear) take care of braking duties. Shod with 21-inch wheel at the front and 17-inch wheel at the rear, the Himalayan gets dual-purpose tyres.
