Royal Enfield Himalayan Reliability Issues Addressed

Royal Enfield Himalayan FI Test Ride

Royal Enfield Himalayan reliability issues being addressed as the company improves its manufacturing and quality control processes.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan Sleet Edition was launched in India a few months back

Royal Enfield is taking pro-active steps to ensure the quality of the Himalayan both in the domestic as well as international markets. The Eicher Motors-owned company is now entering the North American markets with the Himalayan and officials from the Bullet maker have stated that they have taken the customer feedback and are continuously improving the manufacturing process and upgrading the quality control processes.

The officials also tell that now there is a direct connection between the service team feeding back into the plant team, so there’s an understanding between them. Touted as the most affordable adventure motorcycle in the country, the Royal Enfield Himalayan got an overwhelming response initially. After almost a year of its launch, several owners of the motorcycle reported with quality issues like paint chipping, rusting of parts, stalling, electrical failure to severe ones like gearbox failure and the chassis getting cracks. To address these sensitive issues, the automaker also temporarily stopped the sales of the vehicle during the transition from BS3 to BS4.

Taking the US market seriously, Royal Enfield has opened a pre-delivery inspection centre in Dallas to ensure that standardised and quality motorcycles are delivered to the dealerships. Every single bike sold goes through a 100-point inspection before being sent to the retail outlets. The North American wing of the company says the initiative has reduced product inspection related warranties by 90%. To further aid the dealers, the automaker has also set up two technical training facilities where service technicians attend free of charge.

Certainly, all these developments indicate how serious Royal Enfield is with its approach to the US market and the Indian market. The Himalayan (with FI) went on sale in September last year and till date, there have been no negative reports with regards to the bike’s quality or reliability.
