The upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan will get ABS as an option which is a welcome move from the manufacturer. The launch will happen sometime in 2016.
Royal Enfield has emerged as the Indian market leader in premium bike segment with sales being very high within the country. Not only this, the export numbers are constantly increasing and the company is also developing new products. Most of these developments can be largely attributed to the MD of the brand who has been on an offensive mode. As per recent news, he would be shifting to the UK to oversee the R&D happening at the new technical centre in the country. Also, the brand is looking at expanding into other international markets to garner more sales.
With the focus set on international markets and higher growth in India too, Royal Enfield is developing newer and more advanced products to meet the needs of the customers. One of the upcoming bikes from the brand is the Himalayan which will be a scrambler style motorcycle suitable for off-roading and adventure touring duties. To be powered by an all new 410cc single-cylinder engine, the bike will also get ABS as an option. This is a welcome move from the manufacturer since ABS is a critical safety feature and can prove to be very useful in tricky braking situations.
The Himalayan would be getting some features not seen on most Royal Enfield bikes like a monoshock shock absorber at the rear, step up seat (could be a split seat too) and steel braided brake lines. As per the spy shots seen till now, it also gets a raised handlebar, blackened engine, skid plate and a front mudguard shorter than other offerings. It also borrows some elements from the Continental GT. With prices expected to be around Rs. 2.5 lakhs, it will be a good proposition for someone looking for relaxed adventure touring.
