Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 launch planned for 2024, will be available in two variants.
The much awaited Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 launch is still a long while away as the bike maker has planned to introduce it in 2024, that too in the last quarter.
However, there are some interesting new details of the bike that tell us how will it be positioned in RE’s lineup.
Initially the twin-cylinder 650cc engine wasn’t planned for the Himalayan as the bike maker believed it will be difficult to use that engine on this adventure motorcycle.
However, Royal Enfield recently started working on this project since there was a lot of demand for a higher capacity Himalayan as many owners aren’t happy with the cruising speed of the current model.
Now the upcoming bike will have a new positioning with a new marketing strategy. The more road oriented high capacity bike is likely to be priced around Rs. 4 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The production bike may not be called the Himalayan as RE will focus on its touring character instead of a hardcore ADV positioning like the current model.
The 650cc motorcycle will be available in two variants one with the alloy wheels which will be called a sports tourer while the other will be a spoked wheels variant that will be offered as an adventure tourer.
Instead of the current 21-inch front wheel, the Himalayan 650 will get a 19-inch wheel. The seat height of the bike will be higher than the current model with decent ground clearance on offer.
It will continue with the rugged styling and will carry 80-85 percent of the Himalayan’s styling. It will also get a higher mounted exhaust and improved braking setup for the more powerful bike.
You can also expect RE to offer traction control system along with multiple riding modes.
