The most interesting motorcycle that will be introduced shortly in the Indian market is the Royal Enfield Continental GT (Café Racer). The test mule of the Continental GT has been spotted several times and the Café Racer aficionados have also been waiting eagerly for the motorcycle in India. Recently, a Royal Enfield Fan group uploaded two images of three different test mules of the Continental GT that has bloomed the curiosity among retro lovers. The test mules in the image clads three different seats layout, out of which two have single seat configuration while the third features the traditional 2-seater flat seat design.
The two closest bikes in the images feature a single rider rear humped seat that is a trademark of Café Racer motorcycles. The last motorcycle with two seating capacity might be specifically designed for the Indian market by keeping the customers taste in mind. The genre of Café Racer motorcycles emerged way back in 1960’s which was specifically designed for racing purpose rather than giving importance to the comfort of the rider. The Royal Enfield Continental GT is also designed on the same concept with elongated straight tank design that has curves to groove the rider’s knees for better aerodynamics.
The clip on handle bars, middle placement of rider foot pegs are the few significant changes that could be first time seen on any Royal Enfield. The Continental GT is powered by a 536cc engine that is expected to generate a power output of 40-45 BHP with a top speed of 160 km/hr. The model will be the company’s flagship model and is expected to reach showrooms with a price tag of over Rs. 2 lakhs. On the basis of frequency at which test mules of the Continental GT are being spotted in the country, we can expect the launch of the motorcycle by the festive season this year.
