Rolls-Royce has confirmed the launch of their first SUV, which will be made on the all-new aluminium architecture. Launch date and technical specifications are yet to be announced.
The much anticipated SUV from Rolls-Royce is now officially confirmed for launch in the near future. The ultra luxury British automaker has announced that they are developing an all-new Rolls-Royce with exceptional presence, elegance and purpose. They say it’s a car that offers the luxury of a Rolls-Royce in a vehicle that can cross any terrain. The upcoming Rolls-Royce will be a high-bodied car with an all-new aluminium architecture. The British carmaker claims that it’s the most significant product announcement since the introduction of the Phantom in 2003.
We all know that it’s definitely an SUV but the Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes thinks differently. He says that he wouldn’t call it an SUV, as Rolls-Royce is neither sport nor utility. This sounds similar to what BMW call their SUVs, they are known as SAVs (Sports Activity Vehicle). The words ‘sport’ and ‘utility’ do not fit comfortably with the brand’s character, hence they won’t call it an SUV. The name of the car and launch date is not yet announced but we expect Rolls-Royce to reveal the details later this year.
The slogan of the upcoming Rolls-Royce is “Effortless…. Everywhere”. Their direct rival, Bentley recently announced their upcoming SUV christened as Bentley Bentayga, which is all set to be revealed this year and will go on sale next year. The announcement of the Rolls-Royce SUV comes at the right time to keep some heat in the competition. It will be interesting to see the design of the Rolls-Royce crossover. What’s confirmed with the new offering is the large, intimidating chrome grille carrying the Spirit of Ecstasy.
