Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost launched with updated powertrain and a host of visual changes
In line with its unique debuts in the country, Rolls-Royce has given its popular Ghost luxury sedan, a major refresh with new Black Badge Ghost launched today. The luxury marquee has not just made cosmetic upgrades to the Ghost but also some major revisions on the inside and under the hood.
Powered by the updated version of its 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 48-valve engine that produces 591 HP between 5250 and 5270 RPM and 900 Nm between 1700 and 4000 RPM, the performance figures have seen a small jump.
Power is now up by 29 HP while there a 50 Nm increase in torque when compared with the standard Ghost. The power is channeled to all 4 wheels via an updated ZF 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. A 4-wheel steering system has also been added.
The luxury sedan features a new ‘Low’ button on the gear rod which could enable the ‘Sport’ mode unlocking a host of technologies of the car.
In the said mode, the exhaust becomes more vocal, the gear shifts are 50 percent faster, and the throttle is depressed to 90 percent enabling the sedan to clock a 0-100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds.
The other changes include blacked-out front grille and the ‘Spirit of Ecstacy’. Also, Rolls-Royce has adopted a special chrome electrolyte on the stainless-steel bits darkening the finish further before sending them for precision polish. A total of 44,000 colours are on offer.
On the inside, the Mandarin leather upholstered panels with black bolivar veneer light up the cabin. The new diamond-quilted upholstery and a dark chrome finish for the air vents further improves ambient detailing.
The Rolls-Royce Ghost currently retails at a price of Rs 12.25 crores which is not the ex-showroom price but the 1 with all bells and whistles of the car. The exact ex-showroom price will revealed directly to the customers during commissioning process.
