The right-hand-drive Jeep Compass will only be manufactured in India at FCA’s Ranjangaon facility, which is one of the four global facilities for Compass.
The 2017 Jeep Compass was revealed to the world a few days back with modern Jeep design direction that looks sharp as well as rugged having those typical SUV proportions. The Jeep Compass will be manufactured in India along with China, Brazil and Mexico for more than 100 countries across the globe.
FCA India’s Ranjangaon facility will be the only facility for manufacturing RHD Jeep Compass across the world. In terms of exteriors, the Compass gets a very appealing design retaining the Jeep’s seven-slot grille and trapezoidal wheel arches. The contrasting roof also gets a unique chrome highlight.
The interiors get a straightforward dashboard which looks practical yet appealing. It comes with a Uconnect infotainment system with a sizeable touchscreen display offering features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Navigation system, etc.
Powering the Jeep Compass are five engines globally including three petrol and two diesel. The Indian market will get one diesel and one petrol engine option with both manual and automatic transmission choices. It also comes with a Jeep Active Drive – SelecTerrain 4×4 system which is claimed to be efficient.
Jeep has entered the Indian market this year by introducing the Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. The American carmaker is taking the top-down approach by introducing premium products first and eventually launching CKD units and locally manufactured cars with competitive pricing. The Compass will be launched in mid-2017 in India.
