The Triber MPV is available in 4 variants and comes with one engine and one gearbox only.
The Renault Triber has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 4.95 lakhs, going up to Rs. 6.49 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, India). The car is available in 4 variants – RXE, RXL, RXT and RXZ and follows an SUV-like styling.
The Renault Triber is a 7-seater MPV built on the carmaker’s modular CMF-A+ platform that underpins the Kwid hatchback as well. The car measures 3990 mm in length, 1739 mm in width, 1643 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2636 mm. With all seats up and in their place, the Triber’s boot space is a mere 84 litres but can be expanded to a capacious 625 litres by removing the rear-most seats.
The MPV gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay,
push-button start-stop, AC vents in all three rows, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, a digital instrument cluster, a cooled centre box, keyless entry and a rear wash-wipe. In terms of safety, it gets dual-front airbags, ABS and reverse parking sensors. Top-spec variants get front-side airbags and a rear parking camera as an addition.
The Renault Triber derives power from a tweaked version of the Kwid’s 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. It produces 72 PS and 96 Nm of torque while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. The ARAI-rated mileage for this engine-gearbox combination is 20km/l. One can expect Renault to introduce a turbocharged version of the 1.0-litre petrol engine later with an AMT gearbox option.
The Renault Triber rivals the Datsun Go+ (Rs. 3.86-5.94 lakhs) and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga petrol variant (Rs. 7.55-10.06 lakhs)
