Renault To Showcase A-Entry Small Car At 2014 Auto Expo

Renault has revealed its Auto Expo plans but very briefly. The company will be showcasing a range of products at the upcoming Auto Expo including the world premiere of a new Renault concept car. Earlier today, Nissan unveiled the sketch of the Datsun I2 and we expect Renault to also debut its entry entry level car at the same time. Renault calls its small car as the A-Entry internally which is set to rival the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon. However the A-Entry and I2 won’t look the same although underneath they will be identical.

By showing the concept version of the A-Entry, Renault will be able to attract a lot of first time car buyers while also gauging their interest in the car. The same vehicle will be launched later this year, priced around Rs. 3 lakhs, sitting below the Pulse. Renault has also revealed its plans to introduce two product facelifts, one product upgrade and one brand new limited edition model at the 2014 Auto Expo. That is all the French automaker has revealed and has made no mentions about the details.

We all know what these cars are. The two product facelifts are of course the Duster and Fluence, the latter has been a long time coming but has been delayed time and again as dealers failed to clear stock of the old model. The Fluence has been selling in double digits all throughout the second half of last year. The product upgrade is the Koleos which was given an update last year in global markets. The limited edition model is likely to be of the Scala as that is one vehicle which hasn’t seen any action of late. It outsold the Sunny last month.

If this is all what Renault is displaying, then there sure is some hint of disappointment. The company is known for bringing concept vehicles to the show along with its Formula 1 car, which we think will make it to the exhibit this year too. Crucially though, there is no mention or even a hint of whether the Lodgy would be showcased. The Lodgy is Renault’s next big ticket launch which could replicate the Duster’s success. Maybe it’s too early to showcase the MPV as a launch is planned only next year.
