Renault Talisman Officially Revealed, To Compete With Volkswagen Passat

The Renault Talisman will make its official public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show and is aimed to take on the Volkswagen Passat in the segment.

Having silently moved out of the competition with the discontinuation of the Laguna back in 2011, Renault has made a glamorous comeback to the entry-level premium luxury sedan segment with the recently unveiled all-new Talisman. The French automaker’s answer to the German offerings Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb, the Renault Talisman promises to provide an enhanced premium experience inside the cabin along with lower emissions and better maintenance costs.

Starting with the exteriors, the 2015 Renault Talisman gets an attractive profile with the executive styled detailing that makes the model look extremely sharp in design. The front fascia looks more mature with the bold appearance and striking curves, while also signifying Renault’s new design philosophy that will be seen on more models in the future. At the rear, the saloon comes with LED tail lights that run across the boot-lid and give a distinctive look to the model, while the rectangular shaped twin exhausts look sporty. The saloon comes with full LED headlamps and C-shaped signature lighting.

The Renault Talisman measures 4.85-metres in length (70 mm longer than the Passat), 1.87-metres in width and 1.46-metres in height and has a wheelbase of 2.81-metres. The cabin boasts of an 8.7-inch vertically mounted touchscreen system, BOSE surround sound system, hands-free parking and a new digital instrument cluster that is offered as standard. The saloon also comes with Multi Sense-technology that are essentially different driving modes including Comfort, Sport, Eco, Neutral and Perso. The knee room inside the executive saloon is said to be a healthy 262 mm and you also get a heads-up display, ventilated and massage front seats, ambient lighting and 60:40 split foldable rear seats. The boot space is measured at 608-litres.

Engine options will include two petrol and three diesel engine on offer. The petrol variants will get a 150 PS and a 200 PS TCe turbo engines, paired only to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission; while there will also be the 110 PS, 130 PS and 160 PS dCi diesel engines available, paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Renault claims that the 110 PS diesel emits just 95 g/km of CO2. The Talisman also boasts of being the only car to get four-wheel steering and adaptive damping, coupled with dynamic, agile handling or improved ride comfort.

The Renault Talisman will come with a comprehensive range of driving aids in order to keep the occupants safe. The new saloon will be making its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year, while sales are said to commence in Europe in the beginning of 2016. The car will also be introduced in Turkey and North African markets later in the timeline. A perpetual successor to the Laguna, the Talisman won’t be making it to the right-hand driven markets anytime soon, as the company hasn’t developed one.
