Renault Lodgy Spied Testing Again, Launch In April

Renault India continues testing the Lodgy MPV in India. The vehicle will be launched in India in the month of April with an aggressive price tag.

A couple of months ago, Renault had released pictures of the Indian version of the Lodgy MPV. They will soon be launching the Lodgy in India to compete with other MPVs in the segment. The vehicle has been recently spotted testing on Indian roads by our reader R. Praveen Kumar. The Lodgy will help Renault gain sales numbers because until now, it’s only the Duster that sells well in their portfolio. The French carmaker had said that the vehicle will be priced aggressively which will help them gain volumes and popularity.

Renault did not release pictures of the rear end of the car and the interiors. But looking at the spy shots, we can safely say that the rear end remains more or less similar to the global version of the Lodgy. The car sports India-specific alloy wheels which are smaller in size than the ones available in other markets. This would mean that the Indian variant will have better ride quality. The car seems to have lot of headroom for the driver and passengers. It gets roof rails in order to make it suitable for mounting a luggage rack or a cycle carrier without much efforts. As per the pictures seen till now, the Lodgy looks good and better than most of its competitors.

Although the exteriors are decent looking, we hope Renault works on the interiors. When they launched the Duster in India, they received a lot of flak for the basic looking interiors which were of not-so-great quality. The interiors alone were a reason why people disliked the Duster. If Renault improves the interiors of the MPV and gives it some nice features, it is bound to sell well. The MPV will be powered by the same engines as the Duster which are known to be very efficient and offer decent performance. With this vehicle, Renault is shifting its focus on the volume and growth segments which will help it enhance its position in the Indian car market.
