The Renault Lodgy comes across as a very good package and it will have an interesting rivalry with the Toyota Innova, Honda Mobilio and Maruti Ertiga to an extent.
The Renault Lodgy is all set for its India debut in April 2015. We drove the MPV recently and presented our views on it. This Toyota Innova competitor has a lot going for it. While Renault is completely optimistic about the vehicle’s success in the country, we’re waiting to see how interesting the MPV battle gets. We have got the Lodgy’s brochure and we tell you what all features does the top-most RxZ variant of this Renault come with. At the time of launch, only the RxZ trim is being offered with lower trims coming in later.
Starting with the exteriors, the vehicle gets a chrome grille, body-coloured side moulding, body-coloured ORVMs and door handles, 15-inch alloy wheels, chrome roof rails, body-coloured bumper, blackened out B and C-pillars and a chrome garnish on the tail gate. The interiors come in a Gris Fume + Beige colour scheme while the centre console gets a piano black finish. The steering wheel gets a leather wrap. The Lodgy comes with both 7-seater as well as 8-seater options. The driver gets an armrest along with lumbar support and height adjustment. The third row can be removed to free up some space to carry cargo.
The Renault Lodgy gets a pretty good equipment list. The ORVMs come with electric control ability, the second and third row too get their individual AC vents, front and rear power windows are standard, cruise control and a speed limiter have also been provided. The vehicle also gets a touchscreen MediaNAV unit that comes with AUX-in, USB, Bluetooth and four speakers. All three rows get their own power sockets too. The Lodgy also comes with rear parking sensors along with a camera. For safety, Renault has equipped the vehicle with ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, dual airbags, immobiliser, keyless entry and central locking with auto door lock.
The 2015 Renault Lodgy will be offered with a 1.5-litre DCI diesel engine in two states of tune. The lower tune churns out 85 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque while the higher tune belts out 110 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque. The 85 PS version gets a 5-speed manual tranny and the latter gets a 6-speed box. ARAI claims that the 85 PS models give out 21.04 km/l of fuel efficiency and the 110 PS versions give out 19.98 km/l of mileage. The Lodgy will come with a 2 year/50,000 kms warranty, free roadside assistance for 2 years and Renault Secure 2 year optional extended warranty.
