Renault India has once again introduced the Scala Travelogue edition at a starting price of Rs. 8.48 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Travelogue edition variant now comes on the RXL and the RXZ trims for the petrol and diesel models and is also available with an automatic gearbox. The Scala Travelogue limited edition was launched last year as well with the same additional goodies; however the sedan gets new graphics on the outside to differentiate the limited edition variant better.
Visible changes on the Renault Scala Travelogue Edition is a contrasting yellow line running across the shoulder of the car from the headlights to the rear fender as well as the ORVM integrated turn indicators and a chrome exhaust tip. On the inside, the cabin gets additional features which include an integrated multimedia navigation system, illuminated scuff plates and a rear sun shade.
Coming with two engine options, the Renault Scala is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder, petrol motor that produces 97 BHP of power and 134 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT transmission. There is also the very potent 1.5-litre 4-cylinder, dCi diesel engine that produces 84.8 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. Known for being frugal engines, the Scala petrol returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 17 km/l with the manual, while the diesel variant returns a fuel economy of 21 km/l.
Nissan Sunny’s doppelganger, the Renault Scala has been a much forgotten product in the market. With almost dismal amount of sales compared to competitors like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the likes in the segment, the Scala is in dire need of some help to resurrect sales. Renault is optimistic that the Scala Travelogue edition will help boost the sales of the sedan with the additional kit on offer.
