The Renault Kwid has been crash tested by Global NCAP again and this time it has scored a 1-star rating.
Global NCAP had crash tested the Kwid earlier this year and the vehicle received a zero star rating for adult occupancy protection. However, it scored 2-stars for child occupancy protection. At that time, Renault had stated that they will work on a stronger version of the Kwid. Global NCAP has tested the Kwid again and this time around, the results aren’t much different.
The Renault Kwid that was tested now was fitted with a driver-side airbag and seat belt pretensioners for the driver. In the frontal impact tests, the vehicle received a rating of 1-star for adult occupancy protection while the rating for child occupants remains unchanged at 2-stars.
Global NCAP had earlier tested 3 versions of the Kwid and the structure collapsed in the older version of the car. Then, a variant with driver side airbag was tested and again it scored zero stars. The Kwid got a slight update and when that was tested, the structure did not collapse but the ratings remained the same.
