The new Renault Kwid is offered in 5 variants- Standard, RxE, RxL, RxT and Climber.
Just a day after the debut of its new arch rival, the Maruti S-Presso, Renault has come forward with the Kwid facelift starting at Rs. 2.83 lakhs (ex-showroom). The refreshed model is offered in 5 variants- Standard, RxE, RxL, RxT and Climber with prices going up to Rs. 4.84 lakhs (ex-showroom). The new Kwid is offered in 6 body paint options- Zanskar Blue, Fiery Red, Moonlight Silver, Ice Cool White, Outback Bronze and Electric Blue.
Just like what we said when the vehicle was spied, the Kwid facelift takes a handful of design elements from the Renault KZ-E electric. The car sports a split headlamp setup with LED daytime running lamps positioned next to the chrome-embellished grille. The outgoing Kwid’s hexagonal radiator grille has been replaced with one that has horizontal slats.
The rear gets a new bumper with reflectors on the sides along with new LED elements in the tail lights. The fully-loaded Climber trim gets additional faux skid plates at the front and rear, 14-inch gunmetal grey alloys, orange highlights and roof rails.
The new Renault Kwid gets a refreshed dashboard design with a bigger 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a new steering wheel previously seen on the Triber. In the 2 AMT variants – the RxT AMT and the Climber AMT, the gear shifter is positioned in the centre console instead of the dashboard. It also gets the Triber’s digital instrument cluster that includes a tachometer.
In terms of safety, the new Kwid gets a driver’s airbag, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminders for driver and passenger, a speed alert system and reverse parking sensors as standard. The Climber variant gets an additional passenger airbag.
Under the hood, the new Kwid continues to draw power from the same choice of petrol engines – a 54 PS, 0.8-litre powertrain and a 1.0-litre oil-burner producing 68 PS. While the 800cc Kwid comes with only a 5-speed manual, the 1.0-litre variant gets a 5-speed AMT as an option. Both engines are BS4-compliant for now.
The Kwid comes standard with a 4-year/1 lakh kilometres warranty, with roadside assistance. It rivals the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Datsun redi-GO and the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10.
