Renault Kwid, this small crossover car gets massive attention in the country due to its price and features. Renault has sold over 61,895 units. So it’s a grand success for Renault India who will start exports of this small car this year.
In September last year, Renault India had launched the Kwid, which was already seen at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi as a concept. Renault has sold 61,895 units this year which is peak sales for the automaker. Meanwhile, Renault Kwid bookings cross the line of 1.5 lakh orders since its launch. This is very helpful to hike the group’s sales in Africa Middle-East India in 2016.
Renault’s sales in Africa Middle-East India stood at 2,08,690 units in the half of the year which is 38.4 percent more than last year’s sale which was 1,51,041 units. Total sales of Renault stood at 15,67,720 units globally which is 13.4 percent more against 13,82,122 units last year. Renault’s market share in India has increased by 2.3 points to 3.8 percent. Due to the high demand of the Kwid, Renault India will start night shift at its Chennai plant.
Following its huge success in India, Renault started exporting the Kwid to Sri Lanka. Later this year, Renault India will start exporting the Kwid to the SAARC region and the company will launch a new more powerful variant of the entry-level model with a 1000cc engine, paired to a 5-speed manual as well as AMT transmission. In India, the Renault Kwid is priced between Rs. 2.57 to Rs 3.54 lakhs (ex-showroom price Delhi).
