Renault showcased the 1.0-litre version of the Kwid in both manual and automatic versions at the 2016 Auto Expo. The company will launch the same in June 2016.
Renault revolutionised the Indian market by introducing an all new hatchback in the 800cc segment, giving it an edge over the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800. The current Kwid, introduced at an attractive price is a compact car which gives an impression of an SUV that runs on a 0.8-litre engine. But for all the power hungry folks, a more powerful engine will soon make it to the car.
The Renault Kwid 1.0-litre version is expected to be launched in June 2016, followed by the Easy-R AMT variant which is to be launched later during the festive season.
The new models of the Renault Kwid (1.0-litre and AMT) will bear complete resemblance to the smaller engined model, the only difference being the powertrain. The 1.0-litre motor will produce around 77 BHP with a 5-speed gearbox. The AMT variant will be up for grabs only on the 1.0-litre version.
What got into the limelight was that the made in India product Renault Kwid Racer and Climber concepts have gained attention all over the world. Renault plans to display these models at different motor shows and could launch them in limited numbers. Renault also might add dual airbags and ABS as standard on the top end model, which will increase the price of the car.
