The Renault Kiger was revealed in its concept form in November 2020 and now the French carmaker has announced the date to reveal the production version. It’ll make its debut on 28th January.
Back then when they introduced the quirky concept with bloated wheels and neon highlights, they announced that the production version will retain 80 percent of the design details (I guess those wheels alone hold that 20 percent drama).
We have seen multiple camouflaged test mules and what stands out is the huge C-shaped LED tail light cluster. While the front looks sharp, the side and rear profile might remind you of the Kwid to some extent.
The interior will get a layered dashboard, floating touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, all-digital instrument cluster, etc. The interior theme is likely to be all-black as seen in some spy shots.
It is based on the Renault-Nissan group’s CMFA+ platform. The compact SUV will share most of the mechanical bits with the Nissan Magnite. We believe it’ll match the pricing of the Magnite as well.
The same engine options will be offered – 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo and non-turbo petrol motors. The turbo version will come with manual and CVT auto transmission options. The naturally aspirated engine will be offered with manual and AMT options.
The list of rivals is quite long as nearly all the mass-market carmakers offer a sub-4 metre SUV.
