Renault has revealed the all-new Kiger compact SUV concept ahead of the production version’s official unveil.
According to the carmaker, 80 percent of the concept car’s design will be seen on the production version of the Kiger.
Designed in collaboration by the firm’s design teams in France and Renault India design, the Renault Kiger concept looks distinct and has lots of outdoorsy design elements.
At the front, we can see the large Renault logo splitting the grille in half. The LED DRLs run from the logo to either end, while the main LED lighting element sits below, like in other Renault cars and the bonnet has three bulges on it.
Look to the sides and the Kiger concept has a semi-floating roof, roof rails, plastic cladding at the bottom and wheel arches, funky 19-inch wheels, and tapered mirrors.
While at the rear, there are distinctive split C-shaped LED taillights, short tail gate, a huge bumper with a central exhaust outlet and a roof-integrated spoiler. Renault says it has 210 mm ground clearance.
Called “California Dream” as well as “Aurora Borealis”, the Renault Kiger concept colour has blue and purple hues. But the highlight is with the blue-green accents seen throughout the concept. No image of the interior has been released yet.
In terms of features, Renault says the Kiger will come with best-in-class kit. It will also be the first model to be powered by the 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor.
The same motor will also do duty on the Nissan Magnite and in the Japanese car, it makes 100 PS and up to 160 Nm. Renault is expected to offer a manual and auto gearbox options with the engine.
To be first launched in India, the Kiger will be built on the CMFA+ platform, the same as the Triber, and will likely be priced aggressively to take on well established rivals in the ever growing compact SUV segment.
