French automaker Renault has just lifted the veils of the Kaptur which is a crossover designed for the Russian market. President and CEO Carlos Ghosn had announced that Renault will come up with 10 new vehicles this year and the Kaptur is one of those 10 cars. Renault wants to expand in global markets outside of Europe and the Kaptur is expected to take the company to new heights.

The Renault Kaptur’s styling is based on the company’s six-petal flowers philosophy. The front fascia carries a large Renault logo while the grille gets a gloss-black finish. The bonnet and bumper have a striking design and the Kaptur looks very wide from the front. From the side, the vehicle has the unmistakeable stance of an SUV. The tail lights get 3D-effect LEDs.

The Renault Kaptur has approach and departure angles of 20-degrees and 31-degrees respectively while the ground clearance is 204 mm. The crossover has a length of 4333 mm and a height of 1613 mm. It is decently wide at 1813 mm and is underpinned by the same platform as the Duster’s. Renault will also be offering a lot of customisation options with the vehicle.

The interiors of the Renault Kaptur are designed to be very spacious and comfortable and the company claims that the rear seat can allow three people to sit comfortably. The boot space is 387-litres while the Kaptur also comes with features like keyless-go, 7-inch touchscreen MediaNAV infotainment system, etc.

The Renault Kaptur is going to be launched in India by October 2017 and it will make use of the same 1.5-litre DCi diesel engine that powers the Duster too. Renault might also offer the Easy-R AMT transmission and the Kaptur is slated to be positioned above the Duster in the Indian market, competing with the Mahindra XUV500.
