The Renault Kaptur will be launched in India during the third quarter of FY 2017-18.
Renault had stated earlier that they will be launching a new car in India every year. This year, the company is going to launch the Kaptur SUV which is developed for emerging markets like Russia, Brazil and India. The Renault Kaptur will be launched in India during the festive season of 2017.
The Renault Kaptur shares its underpinnings with the Duster unlike the Captur which is based on the Clio. The Kaptur measures 4333 mm in length which makes it 210 mm longer than the Captur. The vehicle will get the same design that was showcased internationally. The SUV will also share its infotainment system with the Duster.
Powering the Renault Kaptur will be the same 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Expect the oil burner to be offered in 85 PS and 110 PS tunes. The Kaptur will also come with AWD while an AMT gearbox might also be offered. The vehicle will come with around 80% localised parts, thus enabling Renault to price it attractively.
The Renault Kaptur will be slotted slightly above the Duster and it will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Nissan Terrano. The French automaker has tasted success with the Duster and Kwid and if priced and marketed well, the Kaptur too has the potential to fetch good sales.
